Dear Smart

Know that when your broadband signal dies for a day, followed by a day of signal that barely crawls, some people, like me, do not only lose facebook time, but actually lose money. The internet is my second office with my online side-business/es. It is not enough that you apologize on your facebook page.

I now understand why when I look for online jobs and the requirement is "high-speed internet", broadband is not accepted. Your reputation precedes you. You can not be relied upon. This is the simple truth. So enough of your glossy TV ads and work on your product instead.

I am not even going to ask you pay the penalty of my lost business but how about a refund? That would be a start. But "Sorry?" Ganun na lang? Soli nyo load ko. That is only fair.

Definitely pissed,
a Smart Broadband customer.

  1. *sigh*

Now, if only we could remove that automatic ad thingy down below. . . Ironic as it is, it was advertizing SMART while I was reading this post.

Anyway, Maester Dondz, which internet service do we turn to anyway? Globe is still being Globe, I'm afraid.

And just another notice to Globe users (as if my posts haven't been enough to warn them off):
Tell customer service that their internet is slow and they'd mark your account for suspicions of "illegal transactions" and have your right to subscribe to supersurf suspended until the account is cleared. (only after they "FINISH" their investigations. P.S. I think my account's still suspended up to date...)

And BTW, make sure to read their Terms of Service and these very well hidden "FAIR USE POLICY" where (on Globe's case) the upper 5% of subscribers (of supersurf) who consume the most bandwidth, gets their net speeds nerfed. Furthermore, the very well hidden "FAIR USE POLICY" clearly states that the service is intended mainly for mobile phone use. (At which case, I'd wanna say: WHY THE F WOULD THEY BE OVERSELLING THOSE USB MODEMS IF THEY ONLY WANTED THEIR SERVICE USED N MOBILE PHONES?)

For reference, you could read here: http://surf.globe.com.ph/fup
But since the company reserves the right to change policies or whatever without prior notice, let's expect this to be changed any time soon. >.< Just like how they suddenly made this 1GB daily limit then nerfed it down to 800MB. (Please do tell me if they've nerfed it again to 600MB. I'm getting too lazy to keep checking.)

  2. I am thinking of getting a cable internet connection with maybe Sky. I just need to be able to justify that added expense with additional income from my internet based sidelines. It has to pay for itself at the very least. I can't afford a 1,200 Php a month internet connection just to play online games.

As for the auto ads below, they're from my google ad sense. Haha! Ironic that a post bashing Smart would get an ad from Smart. Haha. Oh well.

BTW, welcome back to the internet circulation.

  3. Thanks.

Hmm, last time I saw an Ad from Sky Internet (Or maybe some other cable internet) was at the back of a bus. Boasts something like a 5MBPS Connection or higher.. The downside in the fineprint was that it only had something like 10 GB monthly bandwidth limit. ~_~

Although... 1200 a month... Yeah, kinda steep. Maybe I'll just keep leeching my mother's Wi-Max for the time being. Nothing's cheaper than something free. ^____^

I'ma be joining your Scribbie thingie when I finally get a new computer. I've recently broken two laptops... Both overheated too much. ~_~ (BTW, can I submit a review on the new features of Intel Processors?)

  4. Scribie is okay, if you are just starting to learn this new trade/skill of transcribing because they accept beginners and have chopped down the work load to 6 minute chunks. Just pass their easy test and you are in. The only problem with scribie is that it's not that profitable. On a good day, I can get maybe 3 or 4 files (at 1 dollar each), because there are way too many transcribers in their pool I think. So, okay, it pays for the internet, and not much of anything else. This week, I have not done 1 single file (was too tired from my day job).

So I'm looking elsewhere to make some real dough. I am currently doing some video editing for a Canadian client, reason I need a really fast and stable internet. Right now I'm limited to animating slides and can not accept raw footages (which would be the case if I was doing real videos and such).

I also applied for another transcription company, pays more than twice scribie -- but without scribie, I wouldn't know what transcribing is all about. There is a SKILL involved. It is not just typing. I also applied for a homebased online English tutor, but my USB internet is not enough to qualify for that job.

So there are plenty of jobs out there. You don't even have to leave home to get it.

  5. Oh yeah, submit your reviews by clicking on the thingy on the top left of the page (below the title). I will then have to physically transfer that to its proper slot, with correct tags, and give you full attributions.

  6. Just as I suspected. ~_~

I knew there was always a downside. lol. But at least, once I get the hardware, I could be able to make the internet bill self sustaining. ^__^

And. . . Don't worry, I'ma be making that review. Just when I get more time in front of a computer. XD

    I hate being flat broke.
